about
"This latest weave in the JPB tapestry began life as a series of koto jams in his Kyoto hideaway Le Chambre Orange. One instrument led to another and things began to mutate into a sonic exploration of the places and spaces in his quasi-oriental mind. Traversing the local power spots of his native western Japan-the mysterious Chikubu-jima Island on Lake Biwa, the gardens of Nan-Zen-Ji temple and the starry skies of Ise-jima bay begins to paint a picture of the almighty muse that floats through the streets and fills the sky-something akin to Gaia or 'the green woman'. For the purposes of this Trip, we shall call her Eeko, named after avante-garde pianist Misha Mengelberg's pet parrot who appearred on a rare tape jamming / squawking with Eric Dolphy and Misha while he stayed in Europe, about the time of his last album 'Last Date'. Dolphy's time in Europe was very liberating for him, in a way that these Japonican Islands are for your dear narrator. The album closes with his famously sampled quote 'When you hear music, it's over-it's gone in the air, you can never capture it again'. Life and music are ethereal things brothers and sisters. Pass through them, entwine with them and taste the magic of Eeko"
